Venue: Clarendon Suites, 2 Stirling Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham. B16 9SB

The West Midlands Minority Ethnic Achievement Awards will champion Minority Ethnic talent from across Birmingham, Dudley, Coventry, Solihull, Sandwell, Walsall, and Wolverhampton. The contributions made by Minority Ethnic communities are invaluable to the economic, social and cultural development of the West Midlands. This inaugural awards ceremony is designed to recognise and celebrate these significant achievements. The event will provide a platform to showcase, highlight and reward organisations and individuals alike who have made an outstanding contribution in their respective fields, from dynamic young entrepreneurs to well-established veterans. These awards will bring to the forefront the immense talent and entrepreneurialism currently evident in the region. The manifestation of this ethic into the mainstream induces a very healthy and vibrant region which continues to boast cultural diversity as an enriching and powerful mechanism in drawing community to a shared vision. The event organised by the Birmingham Race Action Partnership in conjunction with Team 11, the organisation responsible for the creation of this unique event, which is also held in Scotland as well as other parts of the country. The inaugural event in Birmingham promises to be as successful attracting guests from the regions cultural, sporting and political arenas. Rt Hon Gordon Brown"These awards are an excellent opportunity to celebrate and promote excellence in our communities. By celebrating our successes we not only recognise the dedication and generosity of others, but by focusing on what we have achieved we remind ourselves that change is possible. I am committed to ensuring stronger communities, communities that will help our country come through these difficult times faster and stronger. The winners of these awards will be an inspiration to everyone trying to build a fairer society.”

Rt Hon David Cameron “Awards ceremonies are a great way to recognise achievement. Not only does this boost morale, but it also helps inspire a new generation. The West Midlands Minority Ethnic Achievement Awards are a recognition of the immense contribution which Britain’s black and minority ethnic communities make to all aspects of our society. I believe we can all be proud of Britain’s vibrant, multi-ethnic society, and of our British identity and shared values. All of us – whatever our background – have got far more that unites us than divides us. It is vital that we build a strong society, ensure responsive public services, and create a strong economy. By celebrating success in different parts of private, public, and voluntary life I am sure these awards will play their part in helping to achieve those goals.”
